Join Junior League Toledo
Junior League is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting voluntarism and developing the leadership potential of women. Members of the Junior League are vibrant, diversely talented women who value the opportunity to become more engaged in their community while developing their own potential and creating lifelong friendships.
Since 1933, Junior League of Toledo (JLT) volunteers have positively impacted the Toledo metropolitan area through developing long-term initiatives and programs that meet the ever-changing needs of our community. JLT was instrumental in starting the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program for abused and neglected children, the Toledo Museum of Art docent program, the Aurora House shelter for women and children and Read for Literacy. Our current project is the As We Grow Diaper Bank, which distributes diapers, wipes, and cream directly to community partners. Without diapers, parents are unable to send their children to daycare, leading to a loss of income which perpetuates the cycle of poverty.
While Junior While Junior League unleashes the power of women to create and lead community change, it is also a fantastic place to make new friends. When we ask our members why they stay in the League, they often say it is because of the wonderful friendships they have made.
We would love to have you participate in our New Member Program. It is a fun-filled training and development program that will help prepare you for active membership in Junior League.
Why Join Junior League?
Voluntarism & Community Impact Training
In the Junior League of Toledo, we are committed to developing the potential of women. As a member, you will participate in both hands-on and informal leadership training opportunities. You might learn how to stop the bleed in an emergency situation using a scarf or a belt, hear a presentation on homelessness in Toledo and/or how to implement a virtual fundraiser. Our training committee is committed to continuing personal and professional development in innovative ways, reaching members in virtual ways until in-person opportunities may be safely implemented.
Leadership Development and Training
Junior League of Toledo partners with other Ohio Leagues to offer day-long workshops on recruitment, communication and leadership styles among others. You will leave these workshops with skills that can be used at work or other volunteer organizations. National conferences are another opportunity to network and collaborate with hundreds of other forward thinking women. Many Junior League members eventually serve on community boards, lead nonprofit organizations or hold elected office.
Lasting Friendships
Community service is even more meaningful when you are working beside other powerful women who share your passions and priorities. When you join the League, you are automatically connected to a diversely talented network of empowered leaders creating significant community change.
